Posted by admin

Hello to all Apple lovers, the new 3G iPhone is out and in this 3G iPhone review we will take a look at whats new and what does the new model of iPhone bring. The best way to start is with the official statement about the new phone that can be found on the Apple website. According to them the main 3G iPhone advantages are:

  • fast 3G wireless technology,
  • GPS mapping,
  • support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange,
  • and the new App Store,
  • Better email management,
  • Contacts search,
  • View more attachments,
  • Scientific calculator.

From Apple: Introducing iPhone 3G. With fast 3G wireless technology, GPS mapping, support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange, and the new App Store, iPhone 3G puts even more features at your fingertips. And like the original iPhone, it combines three products in one — a revolutionary phone, a widescreen iPod, and a breakthrough Internet device with rich HTML email and a desktop-class web browser. iPhone 3G. By the first look the new 3G iPhone is not much different from the old one. Same shiny look, big screen, about the same size and thickness. Maybe the biggest difference is the back of the 3G iPhone. The back is now made of convex black and shiny plastic instead of aluminum. This gives the iPhone a nice feel.

As a matter of fact, iPhone 3G now comes with two available colors, white and black. The white one has 16 GB of storage place and costs more  - $299.

3G iPhone Dimensions

Measurements: 4.5 inches (115.5 mm) in height, 2.4 inches (62.1 mm) Width, 0.48 inch (12.3 mm) in depth, 4.7 ounces (133 grams) in weight.

iPhone Screen Display: 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen Multi-Touch display and 480 x 320 pixel at 163 ppi (pixel per inch). BTW - you can watch YouTube videos, no problem.

But the biggest difference lies under the hood.

What’s New

The 3G iPhone review of the new phones guts:

First, the GPS function. New 3G iPhone has a built in triangulation software that can estimate the users location on the base of the nearby mobile phone masts. This will give a nice boost to all software and mapping developers that will be able to offer services connected to this new location capabilities.

What comes hand in hand with the new GPS is geotagging of pictures. You can stick your photos with information about latitude, longitude coordinate, altitude, bearing, and place names and then publish it. Nice stuff!

And at last the 3G - new 3G iPhone supports (you can tell that by the name, duh :) ) third generation mobile networks. Europe is full of them and now users will be able to use them.

Networks: iPhone now works with UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz) and GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) networks.

Wireless connections: Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) and Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR.

Note from Apple iPhone official site: iPhone 3G uses a technology protocol called HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) to download data fast over UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) networks. Email attachments and web pages load twice as fast on 3G networks as on 2G EDGE networks.1 And since iPhone 3G seamlessly switches between EDGE, faster 3G, and even faster Wi-Fi, you always get the best speeds possible.

3G iPhone and playing games? They say that new iPhone can compete with Nintendo! You can simply tilt and rotate the iPhone and control the characters in the games. The display and graphics are very good and you will be able to purchase new games over iTunes which will be a breeze.

Some things stayed the same. Disk size stayed at 8Gb and the resolution of the camera also stayed at 2mega pixels.

iPhone 3G battery life

  1. Standby time: Up to 300 hours
  2. Talk time: Up to 5 hours on 3G or 10 hours on 2G
  3. Internet use: Up to 5 hours on 3G or 6 hours on Wi-Fi
  4. Video playback: Up to 7 hours
  5. Audio playback: Up to 24 hours

When you add Internet browsing and HTML emails you got yourself a small portable computer. The price is also very affordable, at only $199 and available in 70 countries around the world the new 3G iPhone is a dream gadget to buy.
