How long are you using your iPhone: 1 and 1/2 years

iPhone model (3g,8Gb,16Gb…etc): 3G

I have had my iphone 3G for 1 1/2 years and have loved it, until today….I had always heard you had to treat iphones with extra care because they are super fragile, and I have done my best to be careful. Today however, my dog knocked my iphone off the arm of my living room chair. It fell 2 1/4 feet to the hardwood floors and it is done. My screen goes from white, to gray, to black. Called tech support…nothing they can do. Called AT&T….$499 to replace because my “upgrade date” is 5 months away. I asked was it Apple or AT&T that was holding me over a barrel. It’s Apple, apparently on any other phone I could extend my contract and get a cheap or free replacement, Apple does not allow that. Nice, they make a fragile product, then extort you for $500 when their fragile product breaks.

I use the Otter Box ! I was able to get top dollar after using my 3gs in an otter box, the phone looked and acted out of the box brand spanking new! I like the otter box for the Iphone 4 too because it protects the phone equally as well and the dock opening is accepts after market chargers. I think the Otter box for the 3gs was beefier I miss that beefyness, but the new Otter Boxes are respectable too… Don’t pretend its all their fault, we are consumers. We can choose not to buy their product. Getthe Otter Box it has a great record of protecting the iphone

I have had mine 3 weeks. Slid off the seat of the car on onto the ground (not even a foot) cracked the front. Today my 3 yr old knocked it out of my hand …another huge crack up the front. This is crazy. I dropped my Blackberry many times and not one problem. Of course it is not under warranty anymore . $100 to replace
