How long are you using your iPhone: 1 year

iPhone model (3g,8Gb,16Gb…etc): 4G 16GB

So Apple requires that you connect your iPhone to itunes, then update or synchronize the apps. Should you run out of warranty & you are on a limited financial budget, you are in deep trouble. You will not get any help. Its a good phone, but buyer be ware.
